How to reduce exam tension
# Proper time management :
Proper time management is the most important
thing that one should follow to reduce exam tension. Managing things in an optimum time frame is referred as Time
Management. We all are aware of time management but still most of the students
run out of time because of lack of proper planning. Write the exam with
the maximum safe speed. Maintain same speed throughout the exam. Remove your wrist-watch from wrist and keep it in front of
you by the answer sheet. This helps you to keep an eye on time while answering
the questions.
Write the exam in
chronological order. Don’t try to write the last questions first so as to score
more marks, because your mind bothers more about time than mark. If you try to
write last sections first, since the questions have more mark, you have to
spend more time. That may make you more tensed. So first try to make your mind
comfortable by writing more number of answers in limited time. ( this type of
chronological order is not applicable for ICSE students, because the pattern of
question paper is different)
For any question the first performance is
the best performance, because if you try the same question again and again,
each time you have to face the same with more and more load in your mind. So it
is sure that you won’t get the answer. In such a situation suddenly skip that
question and try the next. Return to the same after completing all the answers.
I am sure that you can certainly find the answer if you went through that
question at least once in you practice time because your mind is now highly
comfortable.
#Read the answers carefully :
Read the answers carefully once
you are done with the entire paper. It's a human physiology that you may not
see your mistakes immediately but reading the same piece of writing after
sometime can help you to easily identify and overcome errors.
# Reduce overconfidence :
If you are overconfident your concentration
decreases. Approach each question carefully .Even the easiest one must be write
with very high level of observation. You should go through each answer like a
walk over slippery floor. Give the highest attention for the easiest question,
because your mind automatically becomes cautious when you write difficult
questions.
# Reduce expectations:
Until you enter the exam
hall you should work hard with high expectation. But as soon as you reach your
seat make your mind empty. Expectation adds load which will eventually increase
tension. Your mind becomes unclear. You can’t search easily for answers in such
a cloudy mind. You should say in your mind that “I work hard to my maximum the
rest is not under my control. If today is mine I can present a good performance
otherwise this is not my destiny. Once I will reach there.”
# Know your weakness:
A good student must be aware about
his own weaknesses. Some of them, due to excitement do not read the question
completely. Such student must be aware about this weakness and makeup his mind so
that each question must read completely before start writing the answer. Some
others forget to put the question number. Some may make silly mistakes while
doing addition or subtraction. It is not good to repeat the same mistake again
and again. Write down your common mistakes on a paper and read the same just
before entering the exam hall.
